PRAIRIE GROVE BATTLEFIELD PARK - MATERNITY SESSION WITH DOGS

When I received an inquiry from the Ruiz family, Nikki told me that they would be bringing their dogs. In my mind, that meant 2 dogs, I myself have 2 dogs, I don’t know many people that have more than that.

Color me surprised when they showed up with 3 dogs. I am obnoxious around dogs and cause the biggest problems in my sessions with dogs. Now, let me explain.

Usually, in a session, you need your dogs to be calm and sit to take the photos…. Well, I tend to hype them up from the second they jump out of the car. So, then they love me, want to be right next to me, and I also want that, so it makes it harder for them to actually want to sit and be calm for the photos.

So when Nikki pulled them out of the car, this was no different. I was in puppy heaven. She apologized that I would be covered in fur from these pups, but I genuinely didn’t care.

For sessions that dogs are present, I run the sessions pretty tightly so we make sure we are able to get everything with and without dogs. So we usually start with the dogs and then put them in the car for around 30 minutes and then we bring them back out towards the end for some more. It’s a truly special thing to be able to have photos of your pups, and we treat them like family around here.
